10 min Film Adapted From A Poem

El Afilador is a spiritual art film made by Emma Plunkett and Suzy Jones, adapted from a poem by Suzy Jones. It follows a day in the life of a knife grinder, which is one of the dying trades in Andalucia, Spain. The character of the knife grinder demonstrates throughout the film the Buddhist principle of non attachment, not even to life itself!

    Hey Emma
Just watched this delightful film about the knife sharpener, having heard the flutey sounds of Orgiva’s knife sharpener yesterday floating along the valley. what a wonderful subject matter and how evocative of rural Andalucia. I had no idea you did this kind of stuff. Keep going! Shimmy on Mandy xx
